5 Fun Ways to get Your Whole Family Active

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyWayToVeg #CollectiveBias

I actually don't hate going to the gym.  In fact, I used to enjoy having an hour all to myself and listening to my old high school jams.  But, since I became a second time mom I feel like my time is stretched so thin I just can't seem to get myself to the gym on a consistent basis.....okay, not at all.

I mean, I've got a ton of stuff to do, including taking care of my kids all day.  Going to the gym is not on the top of my priority list.  BUT, the hubby and I do want to be healthy and set good examples for the children.  Just because I don't go to the gym doesn't mean I can't sneak exercise and healthy eating into my family's daily routine.

I've come with 5 fun ways to get my whole family active.  I think you'll enjoy them too.

Black, Red, and Tartan Christmas decor

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DamageFreeHoliday #CollectiveBias #CBias

Hooray!  It's finally totally appropriate to decorate for Christmas!  Every year, I try to go with a different color theme.  One year I wanted everything blue and silver.  The year after that all of my decor was leopard print with gold and bronze.  Last year, I had all of my decorations very natural with lots of burlap and glittered pine cones.  This year, I've been obsessed with plaid, so I wanted to go with black, red, and classic tartan with pops of gold.

Apple Cranberry Stuffing

Can you believe Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away?

Last year, I hosted Thanksgiving at my house.  We had to leave on a road trip at 6 am the following morning, so I used paper plates and simple decor for easy cleanup.  I'm so excited to finally set out my china and cloth napkins for this year.  And this hutch is a new addition to our dining room that I've been loving.

Salsa Verde

Funny thing happened last month.  As you may know, my mom and I planted a garden this past spring.  We used a few seeds, but mostly bought seedlings to plant.  In addition to our veggie and herb plants, we planted a tomato plant and a bell pepper plant.  This summer was especially hot, so even though the tomato and pepper plants were growing like crazy, it was just too hot for them to fruit.  So, last month, it finally cooled down enough, and now we have a ton of produce.  The funny thing is, it turns out that we don't have a pepper plant, it's a tomatillo plant!  It must have been mismarked at the store.

Buffalo Caramel Popcorn and a Football Party

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AD #Tailgreatness #CollectiveBias

Football season is in full swing!  My hubby played college football and we're enjoying getting to watch his alma mater play.  We've been watching a lot of football at home and at game day parties.  This is the first year that I've actually gotten into the football spirit and we'll be hosting a lot of game day parties at our house.  I like to plan ahead - decor, tablescapes, drinks, and of course food.  Spicy food to be exact.  As you may know, spicy food and football go hand in hand, but we're both starting to suffer from frequent heartburn.   Instead of shying away from our favorite spicy game day foods, Nexium® 24HR has become part of the game day prep.  And now we can enjoy all the heat without any pain.  This Buffalo caramel popcorn is sweet and spicy and perfect for game day.

That's right - buffalo caramel popcorn.  It's so yummy and full of buffalo flavored goodness.

Dinner For One

Frequently when people hear that my husband is a musician, they assume that he has a part time job and takes random gigs.  That's not the case though.  He's a full time musician and provides for our whole family doing something that he loves.  But that means that he works 6, sometimes even 7, nights a week.  We rarely get to eat dinner together as a family.  So it's usually just me and my little guys at the dinner table...... they're both extremely picky eaters.  Since I don't always feel like eating spaghetti every night, I'll fix a single serving of something that I like.

Slimer Popcorn and Ghost Trap Treat Boxes

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #CatchMoreData #Ghostbusters #CollectiveBias

Yeah!  It's time for another family movie night at our house.  Since we are well into October, we decided it's time to get into the Halloween spirit.  But I have little kids, and I'm a big ole' scaredy cat myself, so we wanted a ghost movie that would be fun, not terrifying.  None of us had seen The New Ghostbusters movie, but it sounded awesome for our family movie night.   When we watch movies, we always like to have a yummy treat.  So, I made "Slimer" popcorn in honor of the movie.  That wasn't enough though. I felt like Slimer popcorn needed something special to be served in, so I also made these Ghostbusters ghost trap treat boxes.

Making the treat boxes was really easy and did not require any special equipment or material.
