I haven't made this dip in over 2 years and have never made it for my family here in Texas. I was lucky enough to learn of this recipe one 4th of July, a few years ago, thanks to my little guy's grandmother. I knew it would be a hit today, and I was right.
To start off, you need:
Sweet Chilli Sauce
1 small avocado
1/2 small red onion
1 block of cream cheese
I begin by chopping my red onion very finely. Then, dice the avocado and finely chop the cilantro. Next, I add the onion, avocado, cilantro and about 1/2 cup of sweet chilli sauce to a mixing bowl.
Once the dip is mixed up nicely, I place a block of cream cheese on my serving plate, and top with the dip.
I like to serve this Sweet Chilli Onion Dip with crackers, but tortilla chips taste great as well. The combination of flavors is just wonderful. I love the sweet and spicy taste of the chilli mixed with the cool and refreshing avocado and cilantro. The red onion gives the dip a nice crunch.
It was nice to pull this recipe out of the vault, and now I have the family hooked. I think I'll have to make some more tomorrow.
